Dolphins as Persons

Someone on Google+ shared this link of a lecture by a professor at UNC-Asheville, Dr. Eggers, who discusses the personhood of dolphins (and other cetaceans). It's a wonderful talk and I highly recommend it:

I remember, in his 1999 book Dependent Rational Animals, that Catholic philosopher Alasdair MacIntyre broached this subject about dolphins as well, so this was not news to me. I'm also interested in the personhood of elephants, another species that has become a victim of human technological killing efficiency.
